The self-help guru who organized the "Spiritual Warrior" sweat lodge retreat near Sedona that left three people dead and dozens injured is offering his condolences in the form of a check -- too bad it's for about half as much as the victims paid to go and sit in a sweat tent.Virginia Brown, the mother of Kirby Brown, told CNN's Larry King that she received a sympathy card from Ray about two weeks after her daughter tragically died in the sweat tent. Along with the card -- a check for $5,000. "It's laughable," Virginia Brown said on Larry King Live Monday night. "My daughter paid twice that to go to his event."

Victims reportedly paid as much as $9,000 for the retreat, which was promised to be "one of the most intense experiences of their lives."
Well, that part's got to be true.On the card, Ray wrote to the victim's mom: "Please accept this financial assistance." On the check he penned "In honor of Kirby Brown."

James Arthur Ray Arrested in Sweat Lodge Deaths

Self-help guru James Arthur Ray was arrested Wednesday in Arizona on manslaughter charges in the deaths of three people during a sweat lodge ceremony. Ray was being held on $5 million bond at a sheriff's station in Prescott awaiting transfer to the Camp Verde Detention Center, according to a statement by Yavapai County Sheriff Steve Waugh. "Sheriff Waugh would like to thank the victim’s families for their patience while the Sheriff’s Office completed a thorough and comprehensive investigation," the statement says. "With the arrest of James Ray, Sheriff Waugh hopes the families of the three victims will now have some measure of closure to this tragedy."

Spiritual Warrior" James Ray Puts Beverly Hills Home on Market

​Self-help guru and "Spiritual Warrior" James Ray, the focus of a homicide investigation stemming from the deaths of three people in a sweat lodge ceremony near Sedona, has put his house up for sale.
Ray was also named in two lawsuits filed last week, both stemming from the sweat tent debacle -- probably a good time to ditch some assets.
Ray's 7,234-square-foot Beverly Hills home, according to a report in the LA Times, was bought by Ray back in March for about $4 million. He can probably afford it -- snake oil is pricey these days.
Ray charged participants up to $10,000 to sit in the sweat tent that was made of tarps and blankets, and probably cost about $500 to put up.
Despite paying $4 million for the house just seven months ago, the "spiritual warrior" hopes to make a hefty profit on his palace. The listing price on Ray's pad: $5.4 million
